Baidu Netdisk is the most-used cloud drive in China, offering a large free allowance that made it the default place to store and share big files.

It is effectively the standard for file sharing in Chinese online communities — resources, archives and course materials are routinely distributed as Netdisk links.

Free accounts have severely throttled download speeds, and the paid tier exists to remove that limit — the economics of the free tier depend on that constraint.
