PHP

PHP is a server-side scripting language with a mature web ecosystem, powering a very large share of existing websites.

Its practical advantage is deployment simplicity and hosting availability: PHP runs on essentially any shared host, which is not true of newer runtimes.

Modern PHP is substantially different from the language of its reputation — typed properties, proper dependency management through Composer and frameworks like Laravel changed how it is written, though a lot of older code in the wild predates that.
