Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI assistant embedded directly in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams, working against your own documents and mail rather than as a separate chat window.

That placement is the whole proposition: drafting from an existing document, summarizing a long email thread, or building a deck from a report happens inside the file you are already working on.

It is licensed per user on top of a Microsoft 365 subscription, so the cost decision is separate from the base office suite and worth evaluating against actual usage.
